Orthopedic Test Drawer Test, Posterior
Method With the subject in a supine position, the examiner passively abducts the shoulder to 90 degrees and horizontally flexes the shoulder 20 to 30 degrees. While stabilizing the subject's scapula, the examiner applied downward pressure, pushing the humeral head posteriorly. Increased posterior instability of the humeral head relative to the scapula/glenoid fossa may be indicative of posterior instability. A bilateral comparison should be done for a more accurate assessment.
