For 2023 the fees related to workers’ compensation will be increased. This increase should be updated and effective by March 1, 2023.
California workers’ comp establishes Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) rates based on Medicare reimbursement and regardless that Medicare rates were essentially flat from 2022 the workers’ compensation rate will increase as the effective rate for 2023 will be roughly 140% of Medicare rates. This makes sense when you consider that it takes much more time, effort, and resources to treat injured workers than Medicare patients.
