Do chiropractors need to know about Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) forms?

The answer is YES!

An ABN, also known as a waiver of liability, is a notice you as a chiropractic provider should give to your patients before they receive a service if, based on Medicare coverage rules, you as a provider have reason to believe Medicare will not pay for your service(s).

As a chiropractor, you can choose to participate or be a non-participating provider for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

However, you still need to know the functions of an ABN.

Did you know there is a different ABN version for participating and non-participating providers?

Note the differences in the ABN versions specifically Option 1 and section H for non-participating providers.

Thankfully, H.J. Ross & Company has over 40 years of experience in dealing with a wide range of chiropractic billing issues.
